Physician Flight Surgeon

Matrix Providers is hiring a Physician Flight Surgeon to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families at the United States Air Force Academy located in Colorado Springs, CO.

  • Employment Status: Independent Contractor
  • Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly.

The Physician Flight Surgeon must have the following qualifications:

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
  • Certification: The DoD only recognizes certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists
  • Internship/Residency/Fellowship: Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Experience: Shall have a minimum of five years USAF Flight Surgeon Experience. Experience writing USAF Flying Waivers within 1 year. Recent Use of MHS Genesis within 1 year. Recent use of PEPP within 1 year. Recent use of AIMWTS within 1 year. Recent use of cadet physical tracking software within 1 year. Recent use of ASIMS within the past year
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine.

Job Summary:

  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the clinical instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
  • Technically proficient in clinical directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.
  • Familiarity with accession standards, retention standards and the Medical Standards Directory, and AFSC specific medical standards
