Medical Office Clerk

Location: Bethesda, MD, United States

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Office Clerk to join our healthcare team. The Medical Office Clerk will be responsible for handling front desk reception and administrative duties at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Gastroenterology Department.

  • Anticipated Schedule: Monday through Friday - 7am-3:30pm or 7:30am-4pm
  • Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly. $22.48-23.42 /hr + H&W $5.09/hr.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Proven experience (one year within the preceding three years) working in a medical office or similar healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities:

- Provide front desk and customer service support, including greeting patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner and maintaining a welcoming clinic environment.

- Manage patient appointments and clinic scheduling, including check-in/check-out, follow-up appointments, appointment reminders, and telephone support.

- Maintain accurate patient information and medical records by entering, retrieving, updating, scanning, and managing data within MHS Genesis and other authorized systems.

- Respond to patient, provider, and staff inquiries by answering telephone calls, routing messages, and providing routine administrative assistance.

- Perform administrative and clerical duties such as maintaining records and logs, processing forms, scheduling procedures, preparing documents, assisting with mailings, and supporting clinic operations as directed.

- Comply with all facility training, quality assurance, performance improvement, and regulatory requirements, including orientation, annual training, and participation in quality improvement activities.
