Matrix Providers is hiring a Physician - Cardiologist to care for Military Service Members and their families at Ft. Hood in Killeen, TX. In this role, you will bring your cardiology expertise to a mission-driven clinical setting where your work directly supports patients who serve, or have served alongside, our military community.

  • Employment Status: 1099 position
  • Compensation: $209-$220/hr.
  • Schedule: The government may schedule 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts, with occasional 16-hour shifts when patient care requires it. This role typically requires 1-2 weekends per month.
    • On-call coverage is required. The provider does NOT need to remain at a residence while on call but must be reachable by government-furnished beeper, pager, cell phone, or personal cell phone and may be called in when needed for patient care.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

Requirements: The Physician - Cardiologist must meet the following qualifications:

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States or Canada; graduation from a medical school approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association; or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certification.
  • Certification: Board Certified in Cardiology.
  • Internship/Residency: Internship/Residency/Fellowship. Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Experience: Shall possess a minimum of three (3) years of post residency clinical experience within the last four (4) years providing direct patient care n the field of cardiology. Experience must reflect recent hands-on practice managing a full spectrum of cardiovascular conditions in accordance with current clinical standards. Background shall demonstrate competency in both inpatient and outpatient cardiology settings.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of TEXAS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient cardiovascular consultation and management during scheduled clinical hours.
  • Provide outpatient cardiology consultation and follow-up, with the opportunity for a hybrid inpatient/outpatient practice model based on departmental needs and the physician's interests.
  • Evaluate and manage a broad range of general cardiology and cardiovascular conditions, including complex cases requiring consultation and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Exercise independent clinical judgment in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular disease.
  • Interpret a broad range of cardiovascular diagnostic studies, including:
    • Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
    • Transthoracic echocardiograms
    • Exercise and pharmacologic stress testing
    • Nuclear perfusion studies
    • Holter and ambulatory cardiac monitoring
    • Cardiac CT
    • Cardiac MRI
  • Collaborate with referring physicians, hospital-based teams, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive, patient-centered treatment plans.
  • Provide consultation regarding complex cardiovascular conditions and assist in coordinating appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic care.
  • Participate in the education and mentorship of physicians, trainees, students, and other members of the healthcare team, sharing current evidence-based cardiovascular recommendations and best practices.
  • Participate, as requested by the Department Chief, in medical evaluations, profiles, and referrals to medical evaluation boards.
