Matrix Providers is hiring a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families at the OB/GYN Clinic and Labor and Delivery Unit, Naval Hospital Jacksonville; and/or Naval Branch Health Clinic Mayport, FL.
- Employment Status: Full Time
- Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly OR
- $56-$58.14/hour; plus $5.09 H&W
- Compensation will be based on factors such as experience, requirements related to the Performance Work Statement, labor market conditions and wage determination requirements
- Schedule:
- OB/GYN Clinic: Clinic outpatient services shall normally be provided Monday- Friday between the hours of 0730 to 1800 and at least one Saturday per month between the hours of 0600 and 1700. Shifts will be scheduled on a flexible basis across the department operating hours and will generally be for an 8.5- or 10.5-hour period, including an uncompensated thirty (30) minute meal break.
- The HCW will typically be scheduled for a forty (40) hour work week, which is inclusive of watch-standing services. In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 160 hours per a four (4) week period.
- Services provided will be primarily in the OB/GYN Clinic; however, the HCW will be expected to provide obstetric outpatient care at NBHC Mayport as well as watch-standing in the Labor and Delivery Unit at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL.
- Watch-standing: In addition to the regular duties in the OB/GYN Clinic, the HCW shall provide watch-standing on-site in the Labor and Delivery Unit. Watch-standing is typically scheduled for a twenty-four (24) hour period (0730 to 0730) on a Wednesday or Thursday, averaging two (2) times each month.
- Watch-standing requires the HCW to be available to the Labor and Delivery Unit. If the watch standing takes place during the HCW's normal duty hours in the OB/GYN clinic, the HCW will continue to provide services in the OB/GYN clinic but must go to the Labor and Delivery Unit when needed. When the watch-standing takes place after the HCW's normal duty hours in the OB/GYN clinic, the HCW must remain on-site at the Labor and Delivery Unit. A room will be available for the HCW to rest while on-site but not providing services after normal duty hours.

Requirements: The Certified Nurse Midwife must have and meet the following:
- Degree: Master's degree in nursing.
- Education: Graduate from a certified nurse midwife education program accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).
- Certification: Certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Experience: The HCW must possess at least one (1) year of full-time expereince within the preceding twenty-four (24) months as a Nurse Midwife in an outpatient setting.
- Licensure: Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in anyone (1) of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the US Virgin Islands.
Additional Requirements:
Provide two (2) letters of recommendation from practicing providers, supervisors or program administrators attesting to his/her professional skills, competencies, patient rapport, etc.
Reference letters must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference. Letters of reference must have been written within the preceding two (2) years.
Core Duties:
- May serve as preceptor/clinical instructor and provide input to residents, trainees, students, rotators, new or temporary department members and other hospital staff.
- Maintain communications with professional organizations as necessary for career development, licensure, and clinical continuing education.
- The HCW shall be responsible for managing the admissions for inpatient care and providing technical direction and training to department residents and students in the Labor and Delivery Unit.
- Provide comprehensive primary care to women from menarche through menopause. Plan and manage prenatal, postpartum, well woman gynecologic, family planning and pre-conceptual care.
- Participate in the care of women with medical complications.
- Consultation, collaboration and referral with Obstetricians-Gynecologists.Manage the care of normal antepartum women to include teaching, counseling and support.
- Take a health history and perform and record the obstetrical physical evaluation. Collect, document, and evaluate patient data.
- Assess patient needs, formulate, and implement a plan of care for each patient consistent with established guidelines.
- Manage antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care.
- Perform the following: manage and control normal spontaneous deliveries; record the labor and delivery.
- Perform and record physical evaluation of newborns.
- Manage the care of normal newborn including nutrition, elimination and activity.
- Maintain all required patient records and report pertinent information.
- Prescribe medications, as required, in accordance with MTF privileges.
